Jaguar has launched the Type 01, an all-electric four-door GT that marks the brand’s most radical shift in decades. The car combines extreme performance with a design that breaks from Jaguar’s traditional styling, while its engineering reflects a full transition to electric power.

The Type 01 delivers 1030 horsepower and 1365 Nm of torque from three electric motors, accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 3.2 seconds. This makes it the most powerful production Jaguar ever, outpacing even its hybrid predecessors. Jaguar’s new JEA (Jaguar Electric Architecture) platform underpins the car, enabling both performance and efficiency.

Externally, the model features a long hood, low roofline, and 23-inch wheels, evoking classic Jaguars like the E-Type and XJS while adopting a futuristic edge. Active aerodynamics, including a deployable rear spoiler, help achieve a drag coefficient of 0.23, among the lowest in its class. The car’s weight distribution is claimed to be 50:50, and torque vectoring enhances handling precision.

A 118 kWh battery with 850 V architecture powers the vehicle, delivering a WLTP range of up to 720 km. With a 350 kW DC fast charger, the battery can recharge to 321 km of range in roughly 13 minutes. The company has prioritized both speed and efficiency, though the trade-off between real-world range and performance remains untested.

The interior follows the exterior’s bold approach, with a central spine dividing the four seats and a 24-inch OLED dashboard display. A 7-inch touchscreen serves the passenger, while the audio system integrates Sensory Audio seats for an immersive experience. Its minimalist yet high-tech design reflects the brand’s intent to position it as a premium electric flagship.

Production will begin in Britain in 2027, with deliveries starting in the second half of the year. Pricing in the UK is expected to begin at around £130,000, placing it in the ultra-luxury segment.
