BMW Motorrad has introduced the F 450 RR, a lightweight supersport motorcycle designed for riders who want accessible performance and agile handling. The new model joins BMW’s F 450 family and takes its design cues from the larger S 1000 RR.
Engine Specifications and Efficiency
Powered by a 420cc parallel-twin engine, the F 450 RR generates 48 HP at 8750 RPM and 43 Nm of torque at 6750 RPM. BMW developed this power unit specifically for supersport applications, aiming for responsive acceleration and smooth power delivery throughout the rev range.
Engine vibrations are controlled via a 135-degree crankpin offset and a balance shaft. The bike uses a six-speed gearbox paired with a chain drive. Shift Assistant Pro, enabling clutchless upshifts and downshifts, is standard except on the base model.
Available as an optional Easy Ride Clutch, this system automatically engages and disengages the clutch based on engine speed. It is included in the Innovation Package for the M Sport variant and can be retrofitted to other versions. BMW reports a fuel consumption rate of 3.8 litres per 100 km, supported by a 14-litre tank offering over 350 km of range.
Chassis and Braking System
The chassis utilizes a tubular steel space frame, with the engine acting as a structural element. BMW adapted the F 450 GS’s chassis concept for the supersport version, adjusting geometry to enhance steering response and stability.

Suspension is handled by a 43mm KYB upside-down front fork and a rear KYB monoshock linked to an aluminium hollow-cast swingarm. The front fork provides adjustable rebound and compression damping on Sport-suspended models, while the rear offers spring preload and rebound adjustments.
Braking consists of a 310 mm front disc with a Brembo four-piston monobloc caliper and a 240 mm rear disc with a ByBre single-piston caliper. The bike features BMW Motorrad ABS Pro, Dynamic Brake Control, Dynamic Traction Control, and engine drag torque control.
Design and Features
Features include heated grips, a 6.5-inch TFT display, smartphone connectivity, and a USB-C charging port. The display shows riding data, while M Sport variants with Riding Modes Pro offer additional sport screens and a lap timer.
Variants and Weight
The top-tier M Sport with Innovation Package includes the Easy Ride Clutch along with M Sport features. BMW lists a curb weight of 177 kg for the standard model, increasing to 178 kg with the Easy Ride Clutch.
The F 450 RR serves as an entry-level model in BMW’s RR supersport lineup, with its 48 HP output aligning with Europe’s A2 motorcycle licence power limit. It meets Euro 5+ emission standards. The bike uses 17-inch cast-aluminium wheels fitted with 110/70-17 front and 150/60-17 rear tyres. The riding position features clip-on handlebars and a 790 mm seat height. Optional seats can raise the seat height by 20 mm or lower it by 15 mm for ergonomic adjustments. Pricing, launch timing, and availability in India remain unspecified.
