Stellantis has announced a further Rs. 4,000 crore investment in India over the next three years, raising its total commitment to Rs. 15,000 crore by 2030. These funds will fund 12 new or refreshed models under its Jeep and Citroën brands, including seven entirely new vehicles and five major facelifts. The first of these models is scheduled for release in the second quarter of 2027.

The decision comes after Stellantis’ earlier Rs. 11,000 crore investment in the country. The automaker’s strategy centers on expanding its product range, reinforcing its retail presence, and increasing local manufacturing capacity. Jeep will prioritize premium SUV offerings, while Citroën will concentrate on mainstream segments with higher sales potential.

Out of the 12 upcoming models, Jeep will contribute five, while Citroën will introduce seven. The lineup will cover B-, C-, and D-segment SUVs, an MPV, an A-segment passenger car, and a premium pickup truck. Each model will offer a mix of powertrain options, including petrol, diesel, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric variants. Stellantis will tailor these choices based on consumer demand, cost considerations, regulatory requirements, and the availability of charging infrastructure.

The company will also expand its dealership network into smaller cities through its Stellantis Brand House format. It has set a target of achieving 90% localization for both brands, though no specific timeline has been provided. Currently, Stellantis operates three manufacturing plants in India, two in Tamil Nadu and one in Maharashtra, along with engineering teams based in Bengaluru.

India will continue serving as a critical export market for Stellantis. The company already exports vehicles to 50 countries and produces 95% of its engines and gearboxes at its Hosur facility. Local production will further support sales across the Asia-Pacific region, with models developed in India targeting broader markets.

The automaker’s approach relies on balancing pricing, features, and market competition to ensure success. The rollout of these models will depend on the speed of dealership expansion and whether localization targets are met. For now, Stellantis remains focused on scaling production and strengthening its presence in the Indian market.
