Mercedes-Benz has launched the facelifted Maybach S-Class in India, priced at Rs. 3.35 crores. The S 580e model, exclusive to India, introduces a plug-in hybrid powertrain to the lineup for the first time.

The initial allocation for India includes 30 units. The S 580e carries a premium of around Rs. 97 lakh over the recently introduced S-Class Manufaktur Edition AMG Line.

Hybrid Powertrain and Performance

The S 580e replaces the previous 4.0-litre V8 with a 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine paired with an electric motor and a 22kWh battery pack.

The petrol engine delivers 443 HP and 560 Nm of torque, while the electric motor adds 160 HP and 480 Nm. Combined, the system produces 585 HP and 750 Nm of torque.

Mercedes claims an electric-only range of up to 98 km and a top speed of 140 km/hr in electric mode. The WLTP fuel efficiency is rated at 34.48 km/l.

The S 580e offers three drive modes—Maybach, Electric, and Battery Hold—along with adjustable energy recuperation and a one-pedal driving function.

Luxury Interior and Features

The India-spec S 580e is configured as a four-seater with executive rear seats separated by a full-length centre console.

The Rear Comfort Package Plus includes electrically operated tray tables, wireless smartphone charging, ambient lighting, and temperature-controlled cup holders. The rear seats recline to 43 degrees and feature heating, ventilation, and massage functions.

The dashboard shares the facelifted S-Class architecture, featuring the MBUX Superscreen with a central infotainment display and a passenger-side screen with a privacy function.

The Maybach distinguishes itself with bespoke graphics and rose-gold detailing. Additional features include an augmented-reality head-up display, augmented-reality navigation, a 31-speaker Burmester 4D sound system, and two rear entertainment screens with wireless headphones.

Exterior Design Updates

The facelift introduces a larger grille with illumination and an illuminated Mercedes star on the bonnet. Maybach-specific vertical grille elements and illuminated lettering further differentiate the model.

The revised headlamps feature Mercedes’ Digital Light technology and three-pointed-star daytime running light signatures. The Maybach replaces the blue detailing of the regular S-Class with rose-gold elements and Maybach branding.

The Maybach S-Class retains its extended proportions, measuring 180mm longer than the regular long-wheelbase S-Class. It rides on 20-inch forged Maybach alloy wheels with a counterweighted Mercedes logo designed to remain upright while rotating.

Other exterior touches include an illuminated emblem on the D-pillar and updated tail-lamps with a three-pointed-star lighting signature.

Charging, Design, and Pricing Details

The S 580e features an 11kW AC onboard charger and supports DC fast charging up to 60kW. Air suspension and rear-wheel steering come standard. Inside, Maybach-specific Nappa leather in crystal white and silver grey pearl is paired with Manufaktur piano lacquer trim and additional leather detailing.

The premium reflects its four-seat layout, bespoke interior, Maybach design elements, and additional comfort features.

Positioning and Differentiation

The plug-in hybrid powertrain shifts the character of the Maybach S-Class compared to its V8-powered predecessor. The S 580e combines substantial system output with the ability to handle short trips on electric power alone, while maintaining long-distance capability.
