This isn’t a standard production vehicle from the factory. It is a custom coachbuild created by Heritage Customs, a company based in Naarden that focuses on Defenders. The design comes from Niels van Roij and features a softtop roof in place of the original hardtop, along with a custom roll cage and five upgraded wheels. The interior is wrapped in leather and the exterior is finished in Pangea Green. While the Defender is a capable off-roader, this specific vehicle is parked in quiet villa areas, far from the wild terrain it was designed for. It relies on its styling and comfort rather than its rugged capabilities to stand out.
Owners of modified vehicles often find that the work done on the car adds value beyond what the original manufacturer might have accounted for. When a private builder installs custom interiors and suspension components, the result is a unique asset that differs from mass-produced alternatives. The base model, the Land Rover Defender 90 P425 X, sold for around 230,000 euros when it was new. Despite the high price of the conversion and the premium paid for the vehicle, the listing on the website asks if this makes the car a bargain. The vehicle remains essentially new, having covered very few miles since completion.
The classification of the ’90’ refers to the three-door variant with a short wheelbase, distinguishing it from the longer ‘110’ and ‘130’ models available from the manufacturer. The ‘P425’ designation indicates the presence of a potent 425 horsepower V8 engine located in the front, providing significant power.
